Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

For the people you love most

I love Valentine’s Day! I think any day which is about telling people how much you love them is a very good thing! For me it has nothing to do with romantic, Hallmark-movie notions. It’s an opportunity to tell and show people how important they are in my life. I don’t ever do big, grand gifts for Valentine’s Day, but I do like to give thoughtful tokens to a few beloved people.

If you are looking for Valentine’s Day gift ideas, here are a few of my best! And if you are looking for ideas for the children in your life, check out my Valentine’s Day Gifts for Kids.

Gifts for Staying Home

Wanderlust Puzzles

Traveling may be off the table for now, but travel puzzles make any table feel like a vacation. These beautiful, artful puzzles feature scenes from Paris, London, New York, Copenhagen, or Positano. And at 1000 pieces, they will keep anyone busy — at least for awhile.

The Hygge Game

Perfect for a snowy night in or an afternoon together, The Hygge Game promotes pleasant conversation with anyone you know — or want to get to know better.

Geode Bath Bombs

Give the gift of relaxation! These geode bath bombs are beautiful and smell amazing! Draw a nice bath and settle in for an evening of relaxation and aromatherapy. That’s a gift we could all use right now!

Gifts for Gardeners

A Rose

Don’t just give cut roses, give a rose plant which will bloom and flourish for years and years to come! Personally, I love Heirloom Roses. They have a wonderful selection like the incredible Distant Drums pictured above in my garden. And they won’t ship the rose until a date you choose! So you can time its arrival for late spring or early summer — past your last frost date.

Swiss Army Knife

I never knew I needed a Swiss Army Knife, but they are unbelievably handy in the garden. I use mine for taking cuttings, doing small trimming jobs, and any number of other daily jobs. You can even have them personalized!

The Best Gardening Book

Seriously. This is the best gardening book around. Our climate in Colorado couldn’t be more different from Monty Don’s in western England, but this book is filled with solid, real gardening know-how that isn’t geography-specific. It’s well-written, beautifully illustrated, and a wonderful read. You can read more about my lessons from Monty Don here:

Thoughtful Kitchen Gifts

Emma Bridgewater Mug

If you can fall in love with a mug, I have fallen in love with these. The 1/2 Pint Mug fits my hand perfectly without burning my fingers, and they come in gorgeous patterns with clever and inspiring messages inside. I tell you, I am in love with these mugs!

My Favorite Tea

I start my day every day with a hot mug — or two — of Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea. It is absolutely delicious and doesn’t need cream or sugar (though, it’s ok if you want to add some). I absolutely love this tea, and it makes a lovely gift, too.

Swedish Dish CLoths

Now there’s nothing romantic about cleaning up in the kitchen, but Swedish Dish Cloths make doing so more eco-friendly and a lot easier — especially if you accompany them with a promise that you will do the dishes every day until next Valentine’s Day!

Map Cutting Board

Commemorate a special place with this lovely custom cutting board. Mark the place where you met, proposed, or got married. Or perhaps the site of your first or current home, a hometown, or any other significant spot for someone you care about.

Gifts for Creative People

The good people at Flow Magazine have created an empire devoted to self-expression and creativity. I have several of their books and issues of Flow Magazine itself, and I cherish each one. The creative people in your life may not have encountered this Dutch phenomenon as of yet. Take this as an opportunity to introduce them and win their undying appreciation in the process.

No matter who you are shopping for, I hope you are able to find a lovely token to tell them just how you feel about them. I have more DIY gift ideas and all things Valentines at the links below. And don’t be afraid to cruise my Christmas giving guides. There are great gifts there for any holiday, frankly!
